Teicher (1912-2000)<\/a><\/strong><br \/>\n<em>University of Southern California School of Medicine<\/em><\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/LAC%2BUSC_Medical_Center\" target=\"_blank\">Los Angeles County General Hospital<\/a> population includes every case, and, inevitably, many Negro-white families present themselves for service at the hospital\u2019s Child Psychiatry Unit. The problems of the children in these families are directly related to the fact that one parent is Negro and the other Caucasian. Such comments as \u201cAny white woman who marries a Negro man is sick!\u201d and \u201cThe children are always a mess!\u201d are common, and yet no systematic research has been done in this area. As some of the unit\u2019s staff began to explore the special problems of the children of Negro-white marriages, they became\u00a0interested in refining the methods of studying these interracial families.
