Davenport<\/a><\/strong>, Director<br \/>\nDepartment of Experimental Evolution<br \/>\n(Carnegie Institution of Washington)<br \/>\n<em><a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Cold_Spring_Harbor_Laboratory\" target=\"_blank\">Cold Spring Harbor<\/a>, Long Island, New York<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>Introduction<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>In September 1914, after the meetings of the British Association in <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Australia\" target=\"_blank\">Australia<\/a>, I was given transportation by the Government of <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/New_South_Wales\" target=\"_blank\">New South Wales<\/a>, enabling me to go to the government reservation for aborigines at <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Brewarrina,_New_South_Wales\" target=\"_blank\">Brewarrina<\/a> on the Burke division of the State railroad. This reservation is on the <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Barwon_River_(New_South_Wales)\" target=\"_blank\">Barwon<\/a> fork of the <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Darling_River\" target=\"_blank\">Darling River<\/a>, about 60 miles south of the <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Queensland\" target=\"_blank\">Queensland<\/a>\u00a0boundary.\u00a0 The purpose of the visit was to observe near by a number of\u00a0 individuals of the fast disappearing race.<\/p>\n<p>While at Brewarrina, during about six days, I enjoyed the hospitality of Mr. and Mrs. Arnold\u2019s tact and good judgment that I was enabled to see as many of the inhabitants of the Station as time permitted and to make some simple measurements upon them&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>Read or purchase the article <a href=\"http:\/\/onlinelibrary.wiley.com\/doi\/10.1002\/ajpa.1330080105\/pdf\" target=\"_blank\">here<\/a>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Notes on physical anthropology of Australian aborigines and black-white hybrids American Journal of Physical Anthropology Volume 8, Issue 1 (January\/March 1925) pages 73\u201394 DOI: 10.1002\/ajpa.1330080105 Charles B.
