One graduate, Muriel Fletcher, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.mixedracestudies.org\/?p=709\" target=\"_blank\">wrote a report about mixed marriages in dockland Liverpool which laid the foundation for 50 years of stigmatisation<\/a>. The other, <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Margaret_Simey\" target=\"_blank\">Margaret Todd<\/a>, later Simey, spent time in the <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Caribbean\" target=\"_blank\">Caribbean<\/a> and, on her return to <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Liverpool\" target=\"_blank\">Liverpool<\/a>, became a champion of the black community.<\/p>\n<p>The programme was made by Liverpool producer\/director Bea Freeman, who is herself a Liverpool graduate and one of the University&#8217;s first \u2018Second Chance\u2019 students.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018Fifty years ago, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.mixedracestudies.org\/?p=709\" target=\"_blank\">the Fletcher report<\/a> stigmatised white women who married black men. Now, white women who have been happily married to black men for half a century get their chance to tell their story.
