She is the author of <em>Impossible <a href=\"http:\/\/www.mixedracestudies.org\/?p=1851\" target=\"_blank\">Purities: Blackness, Femininity and Victorian Culture<\/a><\/em> (Duke University Press, 1998) and <em>Punctuation: Art, Politics and Play<\/em> (Duke University Press, 2008). Her work has been supported by a Postdoctoral Fellowship from the Ford Foundation, a grant from the British Society for Theatre Research and was recognized by the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.monettehorwitz.org\/awardees.html#jdb\" target=\"_blank\">Monette\/Horwitz Trust for Independent Research<\/a> to combat homophobia. Her research on race, visual culture and African American Literature has appeared in journals such as <em>Genders, Signs, Callaloo, Theatre Journal, Text<\/em> and <em>Performance Quarterly<\/em> and numerous edited volumes. Before joining the faculty at Duke, Professor Brody was the Weinberg College Board of Visitors Research and Teaching Professor at Northwestern University. She was also the President of the Women and Theatre Program, a division of the Association for Theatre in Higher Education. She serves on several boards and works with MLA, ASA, and ATHE.<\/p>\n<p>Attendance restrictions: Free admission. Seating is limited.
