Why ignore the fact?&#8221; chided the <em>Telegraph<\/em> columnist <a href=\"http:\/\/katharinebirbalsingh.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Katharine Birbalsingh<\/a>. Abroad, there seemed no need for deeper reflection. &#8220;Over 150 arrested after London hit by huge race riots,&#8221; said one US business website. &#8220;Let&#8217;s talk about those race riots in London,&#8221; urged talkshow hosts in New Zealand. Those on the other side of the debate could appear just as certain. &#8220;This is not about race at all,&#8221; <a href=\"http:\/\/www.demos.co.uk\/people\/max_wind-cowie\" target=\"_blank\">Max Wind-Cowie<\/a> of the left-leaning thinktank Demos told the <em>Huffington Post<\/em>&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><strong>&#8230;Of the 270 rioters interviewed by the <em>Guardian<\/em> and the LSE, 50% were black, 27% were white, 18% of mixed race and 5% Asian&#8230;<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Read the entire article <a href=\"http:\/\/www.guardian.co.uk\/uk\/2011\/dec\/08\/were-the-riots-about-race\" target=\"_blank\">here<\/a>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Were the riots about race?
