Research by <a href=\"http:\/\/web.utk.edu\/~anthrop\/faculty\/logan.html\" target=\"_blank\">Michael Logan, Ph.D.<\/a>, of the University of Tennessee shows that increased fertility occurred at a time when things were not going particularly well for both African and Native Americans either \u2014 in social, economic and health terms. The work is published in <em><a href=\"http:\/\/www.springerlink.com\/content\/0300-7839\/\" target=\"_blank\">Human Ecology<\/a><\/em>&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>&#8230;Dr. Logan examined the reproductive histories of 295 women of mixed Indian-Black and Indian-Black-white heritage.
