Launched in 2011,<strong> it is the first academic journal explicitly focused on Critical Mixed Race Studies.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>JCMRS is transracial, transdisciplinary, and transnational in focus and emphasizes the critical analysis of the institutionalization of social, cultural, and political orders based on dominant conceptions and constructions of \u2018race.\u2019 JCMRS emphasizes the constructed nature and thus mutability of race and the porosity of racial boundaries in order to critique processes of racialization and social stratification based on race. JCMRS addresses local and global systemic injustices rooted in systems of racialization.<\/p>\n<p>Sponsored by <a href=\"http:\/\/www.soc.ucsb.edu\/\" target=\"_blank\">University of California, Santa Barbara\u2019s Sociology Department<\/a>, JCMRS is hosted on the <a href=\"http:\/\/escholarship.org\/\" target=\"_blank\">eScholarship Repository<\/a>, which is part of the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.cdlib.org\/services\/publishing\/escholarship.html\" target=\"_blank\">eScholarship initiative<\/a> of the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.cdlib.org\/\" target=\"_blank\">California Digital Library<\/a>.
