{"id":26301,"date":"2012-11-01T03:46:26","date_gmt":"2012-11-01T03:46:26","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.mixedracestudies.org\/wordpress\/?p=26301"},"modified":"2012-11-01T06:46:12","modified_gmt":"2012-11-01T06:46:12","slug":"request-for-participants-in-a-study-about-multiracial-identity-and-conceptions-of-self","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mixedracestudies.org\/wp\/?p=26301","title":{"rendered":"Request for Participants in a Study About Multiracial Identity and Conceptions of Self"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong><em><a href=\"http:\/\/www.surveymonkey.com\/s\/multiracialonlinestudy\" target=\"_blank\">Request for Participants in a Study About Multiracial Identity and Conceptions of Self<\/a><\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>2012-11-01<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.psych.yorku.ca\/sp\/splogo.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" \/><\/p>\n<p>We are currently seeking interested, eligible individuals to participate in a study about multiracial identity and conceptions of self conducted by <a href=\"mailto:elou@yorku.ca\" target=\"_blank\">Evelina Lou<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.psych.yorku.ca\/lalonde\/\" target=\"_blank\">Dr. Richard Lalonde<\/a> at <a href=\"http:\/\/www.yorku.ca\" target=\"_blank\">York University<\/a>, Toronto, Canada.<\/p>\n<p>Participants will be asked to complete an online questionnaire that will take approximately 30 minutes of their time. All responses are entirely anonymous and confidential. As a thank you for contributing to this research, participants may enter a draw for a $25 Amazon gift card (1 in 30 chances to win).<\/p>\n<p><strong>You must meet <em>all<\/em> of the following eligibility requirements in order to participate:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Your biological parents are of different racial backgrounds<\/li>\n<li>One of your parents is White<\/li>\n<li>You are at least 18 years old<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Multiraciality is an ever-increasing lived experience for many individuals that goes well beyond &#8220;Black and White.&#8221; Unfortunately, most of the psychological research in this area so far has focused on mixed-race individuals from specific backgrounds (e.g., Black\/White), despite statistics showing that only a subset of the multiracial population in the U.S. and Canada are limited to these groups. Our aim is to better understand the unique experiences of mixed-race individuals from a wide range of backgrounds.
