Pride in her cross-cultural heritage demanded that she be true to herself. Growing up on the North Shore of Long Island, she had always been Soledad O\u2019Brien, she saw no reason to alter the fact.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAs much as my name is unusual, it aptly describes everything I am,\u201d O\u2019Brien, 42, told the <em>Irish Voice<\/em>. \u201cI\u2019m a light skinned black girl with fuzzy hair who\u2019s got freckles.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI think my full name kind of references that all in.
