Robertson<\/a><\/strong><br \/>\n<em>University of Massachusetts, Amherst<\/em><\/p>\n<p>On today&#8217;s episode of Mixed Race Radio we will speak with Dwanna L. Robertson and discuss issues of Identity: What does it mean to be Indian in today&#8217;s society?<\/p>\n<p>Dwanna is a citizen of the <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Muscogee_(Creek)_Nation\" target=\"_blank\">Muscogee Creek Nation of Oklahoma<\/a>, a public sociologist, an Indigenous rights advocate, and a Ph.D. candidate in the Department of Sociology at the University of Massachusetts-Amherst having earned with two prior master\u2019s degrees\u2014an MBA and a Master of Science in Sociology.<\/p>\n<p>Currently, she represents over 2600+ graduate students of color as the appointed ALANA (<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">A<\/span>frican-, <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">L<\/span>atin-, <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">A<\/span>sian-, and <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">N<\/span>ative-<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">A<\/span>merican) \u2013 graduate student representative for the Faculty Senate Council Committee on the Status of Diversity for UMass-Amherst.<\/p>\n<p>Dwanna writes for <em><a href=\"http:\/\/indiancountrytodaymedianetwork.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Indian Country Today Media Network<\/a><\/em> and speaks (by invitation) at universities and other organizations and forums about the complexities of Indigenous identity in the United States.<\/p>\n<p>Dwanna has authored or co-authored pieces in <em>American Indian Culture and Research Journal<\/em>, <em>European Sociological Review,<\/em> <em>Research in the Sociology of Work<\/em>, and <em>Oxford<\/em> <em>Encyclopedia<\/em> <em>of American Business, Labor, and Economic History.<\/em> Her research focuses on the reproduction of social inequality, particularly for American Indians.
