{"id":30006,"date":"2013-04-01T02:10:18","date_gmt":"2013-04-01T02:10:18","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.mixedracestudies.org\/wordpress\/?p=30006"},"modified":"2013-04-01T02:10:18","modified_gmt":"2013-04-01T02:10:18","slug":"%e2%80%98visible-invisible%e2%80%99-exhibition-to-explore-history-of-hapa-ja-experience","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mixedracestudies.org\/wp\/?p=30006","title":{"rendered":"\u2018Visible &#038; Invisible\u2019 Exhibition to Explore History of Hapa JA Experience"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong><em><a href=\"http:\/\/www.rafu.com\/2013\/03\/visible-invisible-exhibition-to-explore-history-of-hapa-ja-experience\/\" target=\"_blank\">\u2018Visible &amp; Invisible\u2019 Exhibition to Explore History of Hapa JA Experience<\/a><\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.rafu.com\" target=\"_blank\">The Rafu Shimpo: Los Angeles Japanese Daily News<\/a><br \/>\n2013-03-31<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"http:\/\/www.janm.org\/\" target=\"_blank\">Japanese American National Museum<\/a>, in collaboration with the USC <a href=\"http:\/\/dornsife.usc.edu\/cjrc\/hapa-japan-database-project\/\" target=\"_blank\">Hapa Japan Database Project<\/a>, will present its next exhibition, \u201c<a href=\"http:\/\/www.janm.org\/exhibits\/visible-invisible\/\" target=\"_blank\">Visible &amp; Invisible: A Hapa Japanese American History<\/a>,\u201d from Sunday, April 7, through Sunday, Aug. 25.<\/p>\n<p>Through photos, historical artifacts, multimedia images, and interactive components, \u201cVisible &amp; Invisible\u201d explores the diverse and complex history of the mixed-roots and mixed-race Japanese American experience.<\/p>\n<p>At a free opening night party planned for Saturday, April 6, from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m., visitors can preview this unique perspective on mixed race within the Japanese American community.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cVisible &amp; Invisible\u201d is preceded by the five-day <a href=\"http:\/\/www.hapajapan.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Hapa Japan Festival<\/a>, a free event featuring Hapa musicians and artists, a comedy night, readings by award-winning authors, film screenings of leading documentaries, and a two-day academic conference at USC. The festival runs from April 2 to 6.
