So, too, you need to understand the reasons behind the calling for a march\u2014the Multiracial Solidarity March\u2014scheduled for Saturday, July 20, 1996, on the Mall in Washington, D.C.<\/p>\n<p>There has never been an attempt to bring together large numbers of mixed-race individuals to petition the government for anything\u2014in this case, a multiracial Census category that would allow millions of Americans to, for the first time, legally self-identify.
