The exhibition features Laura Kina\u2019s \u201c<a href=\"http:\/\/www.laurakina.com\/devon.html\" target=\"_blank\">Devon Avenue Sampler<\/a>\u201d and Shelly Jyoti\u2019s \u201c<a href=\"http:\/\/shellyjyoti.com\/indigo-narratives\/\" target=\"_blank\">Indigo Narratives<\/a>\u201d.\u00a0 The common thread between both bodies of work is the color <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Indigo\" target=\"_blank\">indigo<\/a> blue from India\u2019s colonial past, to indigo-dyed Japanese <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Kasuri\" target=\"_blank\">kasuri<\/a> fabrics and boro patchwork quilts, through blue threads of a Jewish prayer tallis, to working class blue jeans in the U.S.\u00a0 Since 2009, \u201cIndigo\u201d has exhibited in galleries and cultural centers in Baroda, New Delhi, Mumbai, Seattle, Miami, and Chicago.<\/p>\n<p>For more information, click <a href=\"http:\/\/gandhimemorialcenter.org\/indigo-an-exhibit-of-textiles\/\" target=\"_blank\">here<\/a>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>INDIGO: An Exhibit of Textiles Gandhi Memorial Center 4748 Western Avenue Bethesda, Maryland, 20816 Washington, D.C.
