They seemed to believe the US Census category of Hispanic\/Latino to denote physical, \u201cracial\u201d characteristics, in spite of race itself being entirely a social construct with no basis in genetic or scientific fact, and in spite of the United States Census Bureau itself stating clearly that \u201cHispanics may be of any race.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Put in simpler terms, Latin America is as \u201cracially\u201d or physically diverse as the United States as a whole.
