Butterfield<\/a> while bashing <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/North_Carolina\" target=\"_blank\">North Carolina<\/a> barbecue in a playful segment spotlighting Wilson\u2019s congressional district.<\/p>\n<p>Butterfield, a Democrat representing the state\u2019s <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/North_Carolina%27s_1st_congressional_district\" target=\"_blank\">1st District<\/a>, appeared on Comedy Central\u2019s &#8220;<a href=\"http:\/\/thecolbertreport.cc.com\" target=\"_blank\">The Colbert Report<\/a>\u201d <a href=\"http:\/\/thecolbertreport.cc.com\/full-episodes\/xd0j8j\/march-24--2014---bryan-cranston\" target=\"_blank\">Monday night<\/a>, the latest installment in a series of interviews with House members. Colbert asked Butterfield whether Obamacare was a &#8220;great train wreck or greatest train wreck.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Let me tell you, when the history of this period is written, you will see that the <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Patient_Protection_and_Affordable_Care_Act\" target=\"_blank\">Affordable Care Act<\/a> has been one of the most significant pieces of legislation that\u2019s ever been passed,\u201d Butterfield said.<\/p>\n<p>Colbert asked whether <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Barack_Obama\" target=\"_blank\">President Barack Obama<\/a> was lying when he told Americans that if they liked their health insurance plans, they could keep them&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>&#8230;Colbert profiles congressional representatives and their constituents in his occasional \u201c<a href=\"http:\/\/thecolbertreport.cc.com\/better-know-a-district\" target=\"_blank\">Better Know a District<\/a>\u201d segment. He\u2019s known for using satire and deliberately taking some comments out of context for comedic effect in the often offbeat interviews&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>&#8230;Racial identity framed the opening of Colbert\u2019s segment, when he introduced Butterfield as a &#8220;prominent African-American congressman and civil rights leader,\u201d then appeared visibly surprised upon meeting Butterfield, who is light-skinned.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;What\u2019s happening?\u201d Colbert asks someone off-camera. &#8220;Can someone tell me what\u2019s happening? Is this the guy?
