{"id":36942,"date":"2014-08-02T16:51:44","date_gmt":"2014-08-02T16:51:44","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.mixedracestudies.org\/wordpress\/?p=36942"},"modified":"2014-08-02T16:51:44","modified_gmt":"2014-08-02T16:51:44","slug":"one-drop-of-a-fathers-love","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mixedracestudies.org\/wp\/?p=36942","title":{"rendered":"One Drop of a Father&#8217;s Love"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/blackbiracial.blogspot.com\/2014\/06\/one-drop-of-father-love.html\" target=\"_blank\"><em><strong>One Drop of a Father&#8217;s Love<\/strong><\/em><\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/blackbiracial.blogspot.com\" target=\"_blank\">Biracials Learning About African-American Culture (B.L.A.A.C)<\/a><br \/>\nSunday, 2014-06-15<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"mailto:Zebulon.Miletsky@stonybrook.edu\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>Zebulon Miletsky<\/strong><\/a>, Assistant Professor of Africana Studies<br \/>\n<em>Stony Brook University, State University of New York<\/em><\/p>\n<p>This week I had the pleasure of attending a one-woman show by Television and Film actress, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.onedropoflove.org\/a-little-more-about-fanshen\/\" target=\"_blank\">Fanshen Cox DiGiovanni<\/a>, called \u201c<a href=\"http:\/\/www.onedropoflove.org\/\" target=\"_blank\">One Drop of Love<\/a>\u201d a multimedia solo performance put on at the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.brooklynhistory.org\/\" target=\"_blank\">Brooklyn Historical Society<\/a>. It was phenomenal. Not only was it brilliant in its exposition of the social and historical dimensions of race, but it alsobrought a human dimension to the oft-complicated question of mixed race in America.\u00a0 The context alone was compelling.\u00a0 In the next room, the critically praised exhibit on Brooklyn Abolitionists entitled \u201cIn Pursuit of Freedom\u201d, rich with the documentation and exhibits about slavery and its abolition, much of it the raw material and subtext of the play we were about to witness. The day of the performancealso happened to be \u201cLoving Day\u201d, an annual celebration ofthe anniversary of the 1967 United States Supreme Court decision \u201c<a href=\"http:\/\/www.mixedracestudies.org\/?p=415\" target=\"_blank\">Loving v.
