(Courtesy\/Middlebury)<\/small><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.middlebury.edu\/academics\/edst\/facilities\" target=\"_blank\">Alexander Twilight Hall<\/a> \u2014 the austere brick building separating the <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Middlebury,_Vermont\" target=\"_blank\">town <\/a>from <a href=\"http:\/\/www.middlebury.edu\" target=\"_blank\">Middlebury College<\/a> \u2014 is named for <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Alexander_Twilight\" target=\"_blank\">Alexander Twilight<\/a>, the 1823 Middlebury College graduate who is known today as the first American black college graduate.<\/p>\n<p>Today, Twilight is widely touted as an example of Middlebury\u2019s rich legacy of inclusivity and racial diversity.<\/p>\n<p>But who exactly was Alexander Twilight?
