I\u2019m also hopeful about the white people who refuse to stay silent and are acting as allies by showing up to protests while also stepping back and listening, and exposing the privileges they have long enjoyed that others (particularly poor Brown and Black people) don\u2019t. Some great examples on Twitter are <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/lisabloom\" target=\"_blank\">@LisaBloom<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/verywhiteguy\" target=\"_blank\">@VeryWhiteGuy<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>I\u2019m even somewhat hopeful about <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2014\/12\/02\/us\/politics\/obama-to-toughen-standards-on-police-use-of-military-gear.html\" target=\"_blank\">President Obama\u2019s recent announcement<\/a> that the Justice Department will be allotting money towards police training and body cameras. Even better is <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Eric_Holder\" target=\"_blank\">Attorney General Eric Holder\u2019s<\/a> announcement that the Justice Department will \u201cinstitute rigorous new standards and robust safeguards to help end <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Racial_profiling\" target=\"_blank\">racial profiling<\/a> once and for all.\u201d GOOD.
