This is my home country; it\u2019s not a matter of \u2018likes\u2019 and \u2018dislikes,\u2019 \u201d she said simply. \u201cSince my dad is an American, I look like a foreigner, so I used to think, \u2018It\u2019s cool having <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/United_States\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">U.S.<\/a> citizenship,\u2019 and so I went there. But in <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/United_States\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">America<\/a> I couldn\u2019t understand the culture, and it was then that I realized, \u2018Without a doubt, I\u2019m Japanese.\u2019\u201d&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>&#8230;\u201cThere are lots of people from all kinds of countries (in America), so I felt relaxed,\u201d she said. \u201cMy family is all black, so I felt relieved. I was like, \u2018Wow, these people are the same color as me!\u2019 Over there, I definitely felt a sense of peace \u2014 it was easy to live there.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019d like Japan to be an easier place to live,\u201d she added, \u201cbut Japan has some fundamental problems that it still hasn\u2019t solved, in my opinion. These problems need to be dealt with right now.
