Really!&#8217;<\/a><\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.reuters.com\" target=\"_blank\">Reuters<\/a><br \/>\n2015-05-18<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/robertarampton\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>Roberta Rampton<\/strong><\/a>, White House Correspondent<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Barack_Obama\" target=\"_blank\">President Barack Obama<\/a> sent his first tweet from his very own account on <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Twitter\" target=\"_blank\">Twitter<\/a> on Monday, quickly amassing a million followers in five hours, the latest of many <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/White_House\" target=\"_blank\">White House<\/a> efforts to amplify his message with social media.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;<a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/POTUS\/status\/600324682190053376\" target=\"_blank\">Hello, Twitter! It&#8217;s Barack. Really! Six years in, they&#8217;re finally giving me my own account<\/a>,&#8221; Obama tweeted from his verified <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/potus\" target=\"_blank\">@POTUS<\/a> account.<\/p>\n<p>A Twitter spokesman could not immediately confirm whether Obama had set a record.
