Coverage of the merger was quite celebratory and echoed co-founder <a href=\"http:\/\/variety.com\/2015\/digital\/news\/univision-the-root-graham-holdings-1201502868\/\" target=\"_blank\">Henry Louis Gates\u2019 statement<\/a> that \u201cThis bold new partnership between Univision and TheRoot underscores the ties that have long bound people of color together throughout the <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Western_Hemisphere\" target=\"_blank\">Western Hemisphere<\/a> and is a sign of even greater levels of communication, collaboration and exchange between these culturally vital groups of people.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>But while Gates is obviously optimistic about the venture, I\u2019m a little skeptical. Univision has some issues that no one has talked about that might impact things. For one thing, it\u2019s digital presence, <a href=\"http:\/\/tktk.gawker.com\/more-people-work-at-fusion-than-are-reading-its-most-po-1708507965?utm_campaign=socialflow_gawker_facebook&amp;utm_source=gawker_facebook&amp;utm_medium=socialflow\" target=\"_blank\">Fusion, is struggling to get traffic to its own website<\/a>.
