It is being <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ndbooks.com\/book\/oreo\/\" target=\"_blank\">re-issued this week by New Directions<\/a>, with an introduction by <a href=\"http:\/\/danzysenna.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Danzy Senna<\/a> and a foreword by <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Harryette_Mullen\" target=\"_blank\">Harryette Mullen<\/a>. <a href=\"http:\/\/www.matjohnson.info\/\" target=\"_blank\">Mat Johnson<\/a> of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.npr.org\" target=\"_blank\">NPR<\/a> called it \u201cone of the funniest books I have ever read\u201d and writer <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Paul_Beatty\" target=\"_blank\">Paul Beatty<\/a> deemed it \u201chilarious.\u201d We are honored to present an excerpt of this extraordinary novel.<\/p>\n<p>\u2014 The Fiction Editors<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><strong>Christine and Jimmie C.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>From the Jewish side of the family Christine inherited kinky hair and dark, thin skin (she was about a 7 on the color scale and touchy).
