{"id":42268,"date":"2015-08-17T01:24:44","date_gmt":"2015-08-17T01:24:44","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.mixedracestudies.org\/?p=42268"},"modified":"2015-08-17T01:24:44","modified_gmt":"2015-08-17T01:24:44","slug":"tony-robinsons-mother-files-civil-rights-lawsuit-over-fatal-police-shooting-of-son","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mixedracestudies.org\/wp\/?p=42268","title":{"rendered":"Tony Robinson&#8217;s mother files civil rights lawsuit over fatal police shooting of son"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/us-news\/2015\/aug\/13\/tony-robinsons-mother-files-civil-rights-lawsuit-over-fatal-police-shooting-of-son\" target=\"_blank\">Tony Robinson&#8217;s mother files civil rights lawsuit over fatal police shooting of son<\/a><\/strong> <\/em><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.theguardian.com\" target=\"_blank\">The Guardian<\/a><br \/>\n2015-08-13<\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/zoesullnews\" target=\"_blank\">Zoe Sullivan<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><em>Andrea Irwin alleges officer Matt Kenny violated 14th amendment equal protection rights and fourth amendment right against unreasonable searches<\/em><\/p>\n<p>The mother of a biracial man killed by a white police officer in <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Madison,_Wisconsin\" target=\"_blank\">Madison, Wisconsin<\/a>, has filed a federal civil rights lawsuit over <a href=\"http:\/\/www.mixedracestudies.org\/?p=40295\" target=\"_blank\">her son\u2019s death in March<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The lawsuit, filed Wednesday by Tony Robinson\u2019s mother, Andrea Irwin, alleges that officer Matt Kenny violated the equal protection rights guaranteed by the <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Fourteenth_Amendment_to_the_United_States_Constitution\" target=\"_blank\">14th amendment<\/a> as well as Robinson\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Fourth_Amendment_to_the_United_States_Constitution\" target=\"_blank\">fourth amendment right against unreasonable searches<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>At a rally Wednesday afternoon outside the state capitol, Robinson\u2019s mother told the small crowd gathered that the lawsuit was part of an effort to end needless deaths of black men at the hands of police. \u201cThis will stop.
