It was sleeker, fresher and redesigned. There were tweaks here and there \u2014 look, even a new font!<\/p>\n<p>But it still does essentially the same thing.<\/p>\n<p>Sure, the 31-year-old, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2015\/04\/03\/arts\/television\/for-trevor-noah-a-comic-sensibility-shaped-by-the-scars-of-apartheid.html?_r=0\" target=\"_blank\">South African-born Mr. Noah<\/a> is a new face and voice. Likening Mr. Stewart to a comedic father, he joked: \u201cNow it feels like the family has a new stepdad. And <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2015\/09\/28\/arts\/television\/trevor-noah-hosts-his-final-test-daily-show.html\" target=\"_blank\">he\u2019s black<\/a>.\u201d Assured, handsome and with a crisp delivery, Mr. Noah was a smoother presenter than Mr. Stewart, who made an art form of sputtering and exasperated <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wiktionary.org\/wiki\/facepalm#English\" target=\"_blank\">facepalming<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>But if Mr. Noah\u2019s debut was largely successful, it was also because of the operating system \u2014 the show\u2019s writing \u2014 running under the surface.
