Chang<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<blockquote><p><em>Following are closing remarks given by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.utsc.utoronto.ca\/geography\/minelle-mahtani\" target=\"_blank\">Minelle Mahtani<\/a> after the premiere of my new book <\/em><a href=\"http:\/\/www.mixedracestudies.org\/?p=37319\" target=\"_blank\">Raising Mixed Race: Multiracial Asian Children In a Post-Racial World<\/a><em> at <a href=\"http:\/\/www.hapapalooza.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Hapa-Palooza Festival 2015<\/a>, Vancouver B.C. Minelle Mahtani is Associate Professor of Human Geography and Journalism at University of Toronto-Scarborough. Currently she is on sabbatical to host new show &#8216;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.roundhouseradio.com\/Senseofplace.aspx\" target=\"_blank\">Sense of Place<\/a>&#8216; on <a href=\"http:\/\/www.roundhouseradio.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Roundhouse Radio<\/a>. She is also author of the recent book &#8216;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.mixedracestudies.org\/?p=36845\" target=\"_blank\">Mixed Race Amnesia: Resisting the Romanticization of Multiraciality<\/a>.&#8217;<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>My book &#8216;Raising Mixed Race&#8217; will be released December 11, 2015.<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Hi everybody. I\u2019m going to keep this really short and sweet because I just think that we\u2019ve heard so many really important things. But I just want to say thank you, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.meditatingbunny.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Jeff<\/a>, for that really warm introduction. And I just want to thank Sharon and Professor <a href=\"http:\/\/aas.sfsu.edu\/dariotis-wei-ming\" target=\"_blank\">Wei Ming Dariotis<\/a> for the extraordinary contribution they made here tonight.<\/p>\n<p>For me being in this room really means a lot. I think it\u2019s really rare that so many mixed people come together to have these conversations&#8230; I think it\u2019s really valuable to remember that you\u2019re not alone in this and that there\u2019s other people around who want to share in these conversations. I grew up as a person of mixed race identity. I\u2019m [of] Indian, Iranian, Muslim, Hindu background.
