Salda\u00f1a said: \u201cthe people behind the project weren\u2019t my cup of tea.\u201d She also said, \u201cthe director was fine but there was a lot of mismanagement.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>On June 11th 2015, during an <a href=\"http:\/\/www.huffingtonpost.com\/2015\/06\/11\/zoe-saldana-nina-simone-criticism_n_7564452.html\" target=\"_blank\"><em>InStyle<\/em> magazine interview<\/a>, Zoe Salda\u00f1a said: \u201cI think I was right for the part, and I know a lot of people will agree, but then again I don\u2019t think <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Elizabeth_Taylor\" target=\"_blank\">Elizabeth Taylor<\/a> was right for <em><a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Cleopatra_(1963_film)\" target=\"_blank\">Cleopatra<\/a><\/em> either.\u201d Those comments may seem, in a sense, post-racial, especially after defending African-American actor, <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Michael_B._Jordan\" target=\"_blank\">Michael B. Jordan<\/a>, for playing the <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Human_Torch\" target=\"_blank\">Human Torch<\/a> in the <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Fantastic_Four_(2015_film)\" target=\"_blank\"><em>Fantastic Four<\/em><\/a> Film.<\/p>\n<p>The Black Movement in the United States has only paid a particular attention to blackness\u2014leaving out Afro-Latinos as \u201cnot being really black.\u201d Being Black in the U.S is equated with being African-American in a time where there is a continuous migration from Africa, the Caribbean and Afro-Latin America. The Black Movement in the U.S invisibilizes Afro-Latinos amongst other Afro-descendants in a time when <em>all<\/em> Black Lives Should Matter. Many African-Americans in the U.S created a controversy over Zoe Salda\u00f1a playing <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Nina_Simone\" target=\"_blank\">Nina Simone<\/a>. There were several articles published infuriated with her allegedly \u201cplaying a blackface\u201d and being a self-loathing Dominican\u2013although most of these articles also forget she is half Puerto Rican.
