S. Naipaul<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Maryse_Cond%C3%A9\" target=\"_blank\">Maryse Cond\u00e9<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Dany_Laferri%C3%A8re\" target=\"_blank\">Dany Laferri\u00e9re<\/a>, and more\u2014whose works have been well received in their adopted North American countries but who are often viewed by their home islands as sell-outs, opportunists, or traitors.<\/p>\n<p>These expatriate and second-generation authors refuse to be simple bearers of Caribbean culture, often dramatically distancing themselves from the postcolonial <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Archipelago\" target=\"_blank\">archipelago<\/a>.
