While Hoyt is by no means the first to engage in the noble crusade to convince mankind to destroy this harmful mythology, he is perhaps one of the few authors to lay out a concise and constructive vision on how we can actually become a society free of racial taxonomies.<\/p>\n<p>With the <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/United_States\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">United States<\/a> as his main focus, Hoyt examines racialization\u2014America\u2019s original sin\u2014and builds upon\u2014with his own research on individuals who eschew racialized identities\u2014the work of racial identity theorists like <a href=\"http:\/\/www.facultydiversity.org\/?page=staff\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Kerry Anne Rockquemore<\/a> and others to formulate a pathway to a future that can be free of race and the insidious racism that necessarily accompanies it.<\/p>\n<p>Hoyt is never afraid to critique the well-intentioned yet racialist discourses of landmark court cases; census enumerations; esteemed historical scholars like <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/W._E._B._Du_Bois\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">W.E.B. DuBois<\/a>; mid-20th century visionaries like <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Martin_Luther_King,_Jr.\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Martin Luther King, Jr.<\/a>; and contemporary scholars like <a href=\"http:\/\/sociology.duke.edu\/people?Uil=4003&amp;subpage=profile\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Eduardo Bonilla-Silva<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Amy_Gutmann\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Amy Gutmann<\/a>, and others.<\/p>\n<p>Hoyt, as evolutionary biologist <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Joseph_L._Graves\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Joseph L. Graves<\/a> and racial meta\u2014theorist <a href=\"https:\/\/www.unlv.edu\/people\/rainier-spencer\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Rainier Spencer<\/a> before him, adds to the literature what is destined to become an invaluable resource for scholar and layman alike.\u201d \u2014<a href=\"mailto:steven@stevenriley.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Steven F.
