Not this one: we all spoke direct truth to literal power<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Black folks know political theater when we see it; we\u2019ve lived through it for years. And as the 2016 presidential election ramps up, our feeds, and our lives, are inundated with grandstanding and pandering, much lofty rhetoric and often, too few solutions that actually prioritize the unique needs of people of color.<\/p>\n<p>Any <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/White_House\" target=\"_blank\">White House<\/a> meeting, much like the one 15 of us had Thursday with <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Barack_Obama\" target=\"_blank\">President Obama<\/a> to discuss civil rights, could have appeared as such.<\/p>\n<p>I witnessed such theater just a week prior at the <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Ferguson,_Missouri\" target=\"_blank\">Ferguson<\/a> city council meeting. A <a href=\"http:\/\/www.npr.org\/sections\/thetwo-way\/2016\/01\/27\/464610005\/ferguson-justice-unveil-draft-of-negotiated-consent-decree\" target=\"_blank\">consent decree<\/a> to help rid Ferguson of its now well-documented racist policing practices was due for a vote.
