Dolezal had presented herself as black for years.<\/p>\n<p>She dropped out of the news cycle after the June 17 <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Charleston_church_shooting\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">massacre of nine worshippers<\/a> at a <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Emanuel_African_Methodist_Episcopal_Church\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">historic black church<\/a> in <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Charleston,_South_Carolina\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Charleston, South Carolina<\/a>.
