Now I&#8217;m mayor of <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Bristol\" target=\"_blank\">Bristol<\/a>,&#8217; Rees tells <\/em>The Voice<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Bristol\" target=\"_blank\">BRISTOL&#8217;S<\/a> NEW mayor has not only changed the face of the city after winning a huge victory but is also promising a new and inclusive way of doing politics.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Marvin_Rees\" target=\"_blank\">Marvin Rees<\/a>, 44, told <em>The Voice<\/em> in an exclusive interview: \u201cI\u2019m really honoured and feel the weight of the challenge I\u2019m taking on. It\u2019s also very exciting. I\u2019m pleased so many good people are coming forward, wanting to work collectively, which I think this job requires. It\u2019s not messianic leadership. It\u2019s about fostering collective leadership around shared priorities such as poverty eradication, building homes for people and tackling inequality.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Rees, who grew up poor in the <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/St_Pauls,_Bristol\" target=\"_blank\">St Paul\u2019s area<\/a> of the city, has pledged to appoint an all-party cabinet that reflects how people voted and the city\u2019s diversity.<\/p>\n<p>In 2012 Rees unsuccessfully ran for mayor when the post was first created.
