New Research On Beauty And Race<\/strong><\/em><\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.medicaldaily.com\" target=\"_blank\">Medical Daily<\/a><br \/>\n2016-08-15<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/danadovey\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>Dana Dovey<\/strong><\/a>, Health and Science Reporter<\/p>\n<p>The number of interracial marriages are at an <a href=\"http:\/\/www.pewsocialtrends.org\/2015\/06\/11\/chapter-5-race-and-social-connections-friends-family-and-neighborhoods\/#race-marriage-and-intermarriage\" target=\"_blank\">all-time high<\/a>, and the biracial demographic continues to grow. However, our admiration for the \u201cexotic\u201d looks of multicultural people may have consequences. According to <a href=\"http:\/\/www.mixedracestudies.org\/?p=48631\" target=\"_blank\">a recent study<\/a>, black people who simply say they\u2019re multiracial are considered better-looking by others, regardless of how they actually look.<\/p>\n<p>For the study, 3,200 self-identified black people were interviewed by people of all different races as part of the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.cpc.unc.edu\/projects\/addhealth\" target=\"_blank\">National Longitudinal Study of Adolescent Health<\/a>. The interviewees were asked a series of questions about their racial background. Afterwards, the interviewers then rated the black interviewees on their attractiveness based on a scale of one to five.
