Superior Court<a href=\"http:\/\/dccourts.gov\/internet\/superior\/main.jsf\" target=\"_blank\">http:\/\/dccourts.gov\/internet\/superior\/main.jsf<\/a>\u2014not usually a stop for tourists looking for the kinds of historic documents found in the Smithsonian museums. Now, though, the court&#8217;s marriage bureau is displaying a collection of seven notable marriage applications, according to a D.C. Courts <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/TheDCCourts\/photos\/a.127328317326656.19185.112840432108778\/1140448446014633\/?type=3&amp;theater&amp;notif_t=like&amp;notif_id=1472593373182211\" target=\"_blank\">Facebook post<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The most significant is that of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.mixedracestudies.org\/?p=415\" target=\"_blank\">Richard Loving and Mildred Jeter<\/a>, an interracial couple from <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Virginia\" target=\"_blank\">Virginia<\/a> who married in D.C. because anti-miscegenation laws made their union illegal in their home state.
