They appealed their case and won a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.mixedracestudies.org\/?p=415\" target=\"_blank\">landmark civil rights ruling<\/a> at the Supreme Court. <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Jeffrey_Brown_(journalist)\" target=\"_blank\">Jeffrey Brown<\/a> speaks with director <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Jeff_Nichols\" target=\"_blank\">Jeff Nichols<\/a> and others about how they brought the love story to the screen.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hari\" target=\"_blank\">HARI SREENIVASAN<\/a>: The film \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Loving_(2016_film)\" target=\"_blank\">Loving<\/a>\u201d opened nationwide over the weekend. It tells the true story of Richard and Loving, rural Virginians of different races who married in <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Washington,_D.C.\" target=\"_blank\">Washington, D.C.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>On return to their home in <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Virginia\" target=\"_blank\">Virginia<\/a>, they were arrested for violating laws against interracial marriage.
