\u201cThe Hollow Crown: The Wars of the Roses\u201d is a lavish three-part follow-up to the BAFTA winning \u201cThe Hollow Crown,\u201d which aired in 2013 on THIRTEEN\u2019s \u201cGreat Performances.\u201d<\/p>\n

The first series of \u201cThe Hollow Crown\u201d covered the so-called Henriad<\/a> comprising Richard II<\/a>, Henry IV, Parts I<\/a> and II<\/a> and Henry V<\/a>. Now, \u201cThe Wars of the Roses\u201d \u2013 which comes to \u201cGreat Performances\u201d on three consecutive Sundays beginning December 11 at 9 p.m. \u2013 picks up the story with epic film versions of Henry VI<\/a> (in two parts) and Richard III<\/a>…<\/p>\n

The new series aired to great acclaim on the BBC this May.\u00a0A\u00a0Neal Street co-production with Carnival\/NBCUniversal and THIRTEEN for BBC Two, the series was filmed in locations around the UK. Award-winning director Dominic Cooke<\/a> (former Artistic Director of The Royal Court theatre<\/a>) makes his TV directorial debut with the three films.<\/p>\n

The series features some of the UK\u2019s finest acting talent including Sophie Okonedo<\/a> who has been cast to play Queen Margaret<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Okonedo joins Benedict Cumberbatch<\/a> as Richard III<\/a>, Tom Sturridge<\/a> as Henry VI<\/a>, Hugh Bonneville<\/a> as Humphrey, Duke of Gloucester<\/a>, Judi Dench<\/a> as Cecily, Duchess of York<\/a>, Sally Hawkins<\/a> as Eleanor, Duchess of Gloucester<\/a>, and Keeley Hawes<\/a> as Queen Elizabeth<\/a>…<\/p>\n
