Now in her 60s, she\u2019s finally getting the recognition she deserves<\/em><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Lubaina_Himid\" target=\"_blank\">Lubaina Himid<\/a> was just four months old when her father died. It was 1954 and her <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Blackpool\" target=\"_blank\">Blackpool<\/a>-born mother decided to leave their home in <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Zanzibar\" target=\"_blank\">Zanzibar<\/a> and head back to <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/United_Kingdom\" target=\"_blank\">Britain<\/a>, where she brought her daughter up as a Londoner.
