Virginia<\/em><\/a> decision which struck down bans on interracial marriage in 1967\u2014was released nationwide. June 12th, 2017 will be the 50th anniversary of the historic trial.<\/p>\n<p>As a way to celebrate the Lovings\u2014and promote the movie\u2014the Loving Twitter account began <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/lovingthefilm\/status\/801882194763354112\" target=\"_blank\">encouraging people<\/a> to use the hashtag <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/search?f=tweets&amp;vertical=default&amp;q=%23ThankYouLovings&amp;src=tyah\" target=\"_blank\">#ThankYouLovings<\/a>. The hashtag has been shared across social media, accompanied by photos of interracial couples\u2014everything from candid selfies to intimate wedding photos.<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s important, beautiful, and in a sense almost surreal to see how much America has progressed\u2014and how much it has failed\u2014in one photo and one film. On one hand, there is no rule on who we can or can\u2019t love. People of all races and, thanks to last year\u2019s Supreme Court ruling, genders, can now marry.
