Am I White won the David Mark Cohen New Play Award (2015 Austin Critics Table Awards), an award for Outstanding Original Script (2015 B. Iden Payne Awards)\u00a0and was honorably mentioned by <a href=\"http:\/\/www.adriennedawes.com\/thekilroys.org\" target=\"_blank\">The List (The Kilroys)<\/a> of recommended new plays by female and trans authors. \u00a0Adrienne is a member of the Dramatists Guild and a company member of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.salvagevanguard.org\/\" target=\"_blank\">Salvage Vanguard Theater<\/a> in <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Austin,_Texas\" target=\"_blank\">Austin, TX<\/a>.\u00a0In January 2017, Adrienne will join the inaugural class of writers in the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.tulsaartistfellowship.org\/\" target=\"_blank\">Tulsa Artist Fellowship<\/a>,\u00a0supported by the George Kaiser Family Foundation.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong>What is your identity?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>I identify as mixed-race, multiracial, and\/or AfroLatina. I am an artist and feminist; my pronouns are she and her.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Tell us about <em>CASTA<\/em>.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u201cCasta\u201d is the working title of a new performance piece I am writing and creating with support from Salvage Vanguard Theater in <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Austin,_Texas\" target=\"_blank\">Austin<\/a>. It\u2019s my first time to collaborate with visual artist <a href=\"http:\/\/www.bethconsettarubel.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Beth Consetta Rubel<\/a> and composer <a href=\"http:\/\/www.grahamreynolds.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Graham Reynolds<\/a>. It\u2019s also my first \u201chistory\u201d play set in a very specific time and place (presented mostly as a period piece). We are exploring mixed-race representation in <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Casta\" target=\"_blank\">casta paintings<\/a> of <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/New_Spain\" target=\"_blank\">18th century Mexico<\/a>.
