When multiracial Mischa discovers that society has a need to put people into ethnic boxes, and that not all boxes are created equal, things get really twisted, really fast\u2026<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.kickstarter.com\/projects\/theother\/the-other\" target=\"_blank\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/ksr-ugc.imgix.net\/assets\/015\/616\/995\/09a2fdce2f004ed36d6288fc8a4e89a4_original.png?w=680&amp;fit=max&amp;v=1487875896&amp;auto=format&amp;lossless=true&amp;s=f7041c8ea64f72dc1d3b9301e11c1530\" width=\"550\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u201cDiversity is a hot button issue right now,\u201d says Roy. \u201cWe need to be exploring it and talking about it as a society, and there\u2019s no better way to continue to spark conversation and understanding than with this film.\u201d This story shines a light on the unique plight of the mixed race person in a way that\u2019s relatable to anyone who has ever felt like \u201cthe other.\u201d Roy is no stranger to the delicate topic of race in modern American society, having just completed her comedy pilot <em>Brown Girls<\/em>, which centers on an Indian-American woman and a recently emigrated Indian woman.
