Literature department.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>The duo\u2019s research probes the phenomenon in \u201cBeing and Not Being: \u00a0How Society Negotiates Humanity.\u201d \u00a0This is a study based on <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Nella_Larsen\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Nella Larsen<\/a>, and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.mixedracestudies.org\/?p=35980\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><em>Boy, Snow, Bird<\/em><\/a>\u00a0by <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Helen_Oyeyemi\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Helen Oyeyemi<\/a>, and on <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Isidore_Okpewho\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Isidore Okpewho\u2019s<\/a> <a href=\"http:\/\/africaworldpressbooks.com\/call-me-by-my-rightful-name-by-isidore-okpewho\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><em>Call Me by My Rightful Name<\/em><\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>This work will be presented at the African Literature Association conference at Yale University in June.<\/p>\n<p>Leading the discussion, Dr Ukata said that despite disparity in the years of publication of the novels, it is astonishing to see the recurrence of \u201c<a href=\"http:\/\/www.mixedracestudies.org\/?p=5864\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">racial passing<\/a>\u201d in this era&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>Read the entire article <a href=\"http:\/\/www.aun.edu.ng\/news\/aunthisweek\/2068-sas-researchers-probe-racial-passing-identity-based-on-two-novels\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">here<\/a>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The modern-day issues of \u201cracial passing\u201d and \u201cidentity,\u201d dominated the April 20 SAS research seminar presented by Dr. Agatha Ukata and Dr. Brian Reed of the English &#038;
