A Personal Look at The Psychology and History of\u00a0Racism<\/em><\/p>\n

My entire life\u200a\u2014\u200aall I\u2019ve wanted to do was help others. My career has given me titles such as caretaker and counselor; volunteerism has provided the opportunity for charity in a host of ways. My skill-set is providing comfort and confidence; my tools\u200a\u2014\u200aempathy and communication. I have saved two lives; been responsible for many others\u200a\u2014\u200aand counseled too many to count. I am flawed as well\u200a\u2014\u200aand just like everyone else there are somethings I won\u2019t admit to you as I likely don\u2019t admit them to myself.<\/p>\n

An unflagging bridge-person\u200a\u2014\u200atoo often I come across as contrarian; too often due to my intellectual vanity. Still, I like to think this is mostly part of my innate and reinforced desire for impartiality. Romanian, Black, and Korean, I grew up in South Central LA<\/a> in the late 80s\u200a\u2014\u200athe backdrop of the crack-epidemic<\/a>, gang-wars, the LA Riots<\/a>, and OJ Simpson case <\/a>were just a few of the over-arching, commonly known conflicts fueled by racial tension. They imbued within me a deep and personal admiration for nuance\u2019s ability to heal. Through both nature and nurture, environment and heritability\u200a\u2014\u200athis characteristic of seeking resolution is how I like to think of myself; who I am when I\u2019m at my best…<\/p>\n
