Joey, John and Eliza are siblings but their lives are about to take different paths. Joey is embracing the <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/New_Negro_Movement\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">New Negro Movement<\/a>, John is breaking barriers at college and Eliza is preparing to <a href=\"http:\/\/www.mixedracestudies.org\/?p=5864\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">pass as white<\/a>. In a world where everything is determined by race, what can you gain by concealing who you are, and more importantly what can you lose?<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/passingtheplay\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><em>Passing<\/em><\/a> is a new play by <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/indigogriffiths\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Indigo Griffiths<\/a> exposing the controversial practice of \u201c<a href=\"http:\/\/www.mixedracestudies.org\/?p=5864\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">racial passing<\/a>\u201d &#8211; the use of skin colour as social currency.<\/p>\n<p>In August 2017 the project undertook Arts Council funded R&amp;D at the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nstheatres.co.uk\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Nuffield Southampton Theatres<\/a>, culminating in an industry sharing at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bunkertheatre.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">The Bunker<\/a>. A rehearsed reading will take place on Wednesday 14th March in collaboration with Women@RADA: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rada.ac.uk\/whats-on\/playreadings\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">https:\/\/www.rada.ac.uk\/whats-on\/playreadings<\/a><\/p>\n<p>The Creative Producer will lead a fundraising campaign, support budgeting, marketing, the formation of the creative team and be involved with all aspects of the production. Fee is funding dependant but will be in line with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.itc-arts.org\/rates-of-pay\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">ITC recommended rates<\/a>. Creative meetings will begin in May 2018 for a Spring 2019 production.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.gemmaaked-priestley.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Gemma\u2019s<\/a> directing credits include Gracie (Finborough Theatre) <em>Grimm: An Untold Tale<\/em> (Underbelly, Edinburgh Festival) and <em>Tender Napalm<\/em> (Karamel Club). She is the Assistant Director for <a href=\"http:\/\/www.themonobox.co.uk\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">The Mono Box<\/a>. Assistant Direction includes Sam Hodges on the world premiere of Howard Brenton\u2019s <em>The Shadow Factory<\/em> (Nuffield Southampton Theatres) and Daniel Goldman on <em>Thebes Land<\/em> (Arcola). She is the recipient of bursaries from the Mayflower Theatre, Barker-Mill Foundation and JMK Trust.<\/p>\n<p>Indigo&#8217;s Writing credits include <em>The Mulatto Girl<\/em> (Nuffield Theatre Lab) and <em>Passing<\/em> (The Bunker\/The Pleasance). She is a member of the <a href=\"http:\/\/papatango.co.uk\/playwriting-courses\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Papatango Writers Course <\/a>2017-18 and in 2018 completed An Introduction to Screenwriting course (University of East Anglia). Indigo\u2019s focus is on exploring unheard female voices and the mixed-race narrative.
