The Black German Heritage and Research Association<\/a> (BGHRA) is collaborating with the Department of Germanic Languages & Literatures<\/a> and the Cinema Studies Institute<\/a> at the University of Toronto<\/a> in hosting the 3-day SSHRC<\/a>-funded conference, \u201cTransnational Perspectives on Black Germany<\/a>\u201d in Toronto, Ontario<\/a>, on May 23-25, 2018. The event will feature keynote addresses by Fatima El-Tayeb<\/a> and Noah Sow<\/a>, a screening of \u201cOn Second Glance<\/a>\u201d (dir. Sheri Hagen<\/a>, 2012) at TIFF\u2019s Bell Lightbox<\/a> with filmmaker in attendance, and a dance-music-word tribute to Afro-German<\/a> poet and activist May Ayim<\/a> by guest artists Layla Zami<\/a> and Oxana Chi<\/a>.<\/p>\n
