Colin Kaepernick<\/a> may not have a job on the football field, but much of the world is still cheering for him.<\/p>\n

Amnesty International<\/a>, the global human rights organization, gave Kaepernick its highest honor \u2014 the 2018 Ambassador of Conscience Award \u2014 in Amsterdam<\/a> on Saturday. Past winners of the award, which \u201ccelebrates individuals and groups who speak out for justice<\/a>,\u201d include former South Africa<\/a> president Nelson Mandela<\/a>, Malala Yousafzai<\/a>, the education activist from Pakistan<\/a> who survived an assassination attempt by the Taliban<\/a>, and rock group U2<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The organization recognized Kaepernick for his protest against police violence: his action, kneeling during the national anthem before NFL games, sparked a movement replicated across America and the world<\/a>, starting a debate about free speech and patriotism that was inflamed<\/a> by the President of the United States, one of Kaepernick\u2019s most relentless critics…<\/p>\n
