A play about the unexpected relationship between Koos Malgas<\/a>, a Cape Coloured<\/a> shepherd and Helen Martins<\/a>, a one-time actor and teacher, in the creation of the Owl House<\/a> \u2013 an extraordinary environmental piece full of animated sculptures and pulsating light montages.<\/p>\n

Set in the isolated landscape of the South African Karoo<\/a> and inspired by images from pictures and postcards, their world becomes dominated by form and colour. In her struggle to find the \u2018light\u2019, Helen looks towards Mecca<\/a> as Koos faces the reality of apartheid<\/a> prejudice and survival.<\/p>\n
