While the scholarly literature clearly establishes how society has historically viewed and racially identified multiracial Americans, I am seeking to understand how multiracial individuals racially identified themselves and how they related to the various race-based movements of the 60s and 70s. Therefore, I am seeking volunteers to share their stories in this <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Oral_history\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">oral history<\/a> project.<\/p>\n<p>I am seeking <strong>multiracial<\/strong> individuals who:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Were born between 1945 and 1965<\/li>\n<li>Preferably (but not necessarily) have ties to the U.S. military<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Because a portion of my research will focus on the U.S. military presence overseas in the post-<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/World_War_II\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">World War II<\/a> years and its role in the growth of the multiracial population, I am seeking (but not limiting participation to) individuals who come from multiracial families that grew out of the U.S. military presence in:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/England\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">England<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Germany\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Germany<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Japan\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Japan<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Korea\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Korea<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Please note: There is no monetary compensation for participation in this project.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>If you are interested, please email me, Marlena Boswell, at <a href=\"mailto:mrb4@indiana.edu\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><em>mrb4@indiana.edu<\/em><\/a> or <a href=\"mailto:brown.marlena@yahoo.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><em>brown.marlena@yahoo.com<\/em><\/a>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Participants Needed for Oral History Research\/Dissertation Project: Multiracial Americans in the 1960s and 70s Marlena Boswell, Ph.D. Candidate Department of History Indiana University, Bloomington 2019-02-01 I am a Ph.D. candidate researching the racial politics of multiracial individuals in the United States in the 1960s and 1970s.
