Because it\u2019s the whiteness part that gave this country <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Ku_Klux_Klan\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">white sheets and pointy hoods<\/a>, that put an unrecognizably maimed <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Emmett_Till\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Emmett Till<\/a> in an open coffin. It\u2019s what made <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/interactive\/2019\/obituaries\/margaret-garner-overlooked.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Margaret Garner slit her child\u2019s throat<\/a> rather than return her to slavery.
