But how can genealogists and family historians contribute and make even more of a difference?<\/em><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Reparations_for_slavery\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Reparations<\/a> is a dirty word. It\u2019s heavily soiled, drug through the mud. It needs to be bleached, sanitized, and dried in the sun. It\u2019s a term that polls badly. Most people hear the word and think of an <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Automated_teller_machine\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">ATM<\/a> that won\u2019t stop spitting out money for African Americans or of programs that only elevate Blacks and while everyone else suffers. Even our elected officials can\u2019t even come together to get a bill through the <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/United_States_House_of_Representatives\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Hous<\/a>e that will \u201cexamine slavery and discrimination in the colonies and the <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/United_States\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">United States<\/a> from 1619 to the present and recommend appropriate remedies.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>But what if I told you that reparations efforts and programs already exist all over the country?
