Kaepernick will appear as himself as the narrator of the series, which will cast an actor to play the younger version of the star quarterback.<\/p>\n<p>Kaepernick in 2016 protested <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Racism_in_the_United_States\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">racial injustice<\/a>, police brutality and systematic oppression when he kneeled during the <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/The_Star-Spangled_Banner\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">national anthem<\/a> ahead of a <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/San_Francisco_49ers\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">San Francisco 49ers<\/a> game. His act of protest was, at the time, considered polarizing with both <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/National_Football_League\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">NFL<\/a> officials and fans, eventually drawing the ire of <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Donald_Trump\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">President Trump<\/a>, who urged team owners to fire players who protest during the national anthem. Kaepernick became a free agent in 2017 and filed a lawsuit against the NFL and its owners, alleging that they colluded to keep him out of the league. He remains a free agent.
