Doctoral Candidate; Arts Education Leader &amp; Performing Artist<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/stthomas.az1.qualtrics.com\/jfe\/form\/SV_6nZCSguc8DJC2G1\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.mixedracestudies.org\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/03\/Recruitment-Flyer.jpg\" width=\"450\" border=\"0\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Dear Multiracial Musicians:<\/p>\n<p>I am conducting research on the contributions of multiracial artists in the <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Contemporary_commercial_music\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">contemporary commercial music<\/a> (CCM) genres of <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Country_music\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">country<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Hip_hop_music\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">hip-hop<\/a>, and\/or <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Reggaeton\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">reggaet\u00f3n<\/a>. The purpose of my study is to investigate the historic and contemporary events, trends, and developments in American contemporary commercial music (CCM) which are ignored, erased, and misunderstood. This research has potential value to students, educators, and scholars of music, <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Music_education\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">music education<\/a>, and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.mixedracestudies.org\/?p=29669\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">critical mixed race studies<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>I am recruiting research participants who meet the following criteria:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>18 years or older.<\/li>\n<li>Multiracial ancestry and\/or parentage, though they do not have to self-identify as racially and\/or ethnically mixed.<\/li>\n<li>Musical artists working in the genres of country, hip-hop, and\/or reggaet\u00f3n. This can include vocalists, <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Master_of_ceremonies\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">emcees<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Disc_jockey\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">deejays<\/a>, instrumentalists, composers and\/or producers.<\/li>\n<li>At least three years of pre-professional training or professional experience in the music industry.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Please note: Participation in this study is voluntary and participants may withdraw at any time during the study. Research participants will not be compensated for their participation.
